We prayed for our sponsors that God would give them a great blessing. After breakfast, the kids played a game similar to “ring around the rosey.” 

We prayed a part of the “Lord’s Prayer.”

We memorized a verse: Efesians 5:8- “for you were formerly darkness, but now you are Light in the Lord.”

In Bible class, we talked about the fact that Halloween is a celebration that started a long time ago in a community in Europe called the Celts. They had priests who were magicians, mediums, and wizards. They worshipped gods, among which one of them was the “god of death,” and every year they celebrated worshipping that god. The priests went from house to house asking for gifts and candy and doing tricks. They also sacrificed many things. The kids learned that as Christians, we do not participate in dressing up in costumes that are associated with deaths because we celebrate an alive God who gives forgiveness, salvation, and eternal life.

God is light, and in Him there is no darkness, and we should be light in Jesus. We chose life and not death. The kids made a heart as a symbol that Jesus is alive and He is the light of the world! In English, we went over greetings and rules for Alturas. 

For lunch, the kids had delicious spaghetti, and today we celebrated the birthdays with a delicious cake.

Oramos por nuestros padrinos que Dios les regalara una gran bendición. Después de desayunar, los niños jugaron algo parecido a “ring around the rosey.”

Oramos una parte del “Padre Nuestro.” 

Memorizamos un versículo: Efesios 5:8- “Porque en otro tiempo erais tinieblas mas ahora sois luz.”

En el estudio bíblico, hablamos de que Halloween es una festividad que empezó  hace mucho tiempo en una comunidad en Europa llamada los celtas. Ellos tenían unos sacerdotes quienes eran magos, adivinos y hechiceros. Ellos adoraban a dioses y entre todos uno era “el dios de la muerte” y cada año celebraban adorando a ese dios. Los sacerdotes pasaban de casa en casa pidiendo regalos y dulces y haciendo trucos. Hicieron sacrificios también de muchas cosas. 

Los niños aprendieron que como cristianos, no participamos vistiéndonos de cosas asociados con la muerte porque nosotros celebramos a un Dios vivo que da vida perdón, salvacion y vida eterna. Dios es luz y en El no hay tinieblas y nosotros debemos ser luz en Jesús.  Nosotros escogemos la vida y no la muerte. Recortaron y pegaron un corazón en representación de que Jesús esta’ vivo y es la luz del mundo!

En inglés, repasamos saludos y las reglas de Alturas. 

Para el almuerzo, los niños comieron un rico spaghetti y hoy celebramos los cumpleaños con un queque rico.

We prayed as always thanking God for all that He puts on the table for the kids and how the kids grow in the Lord and knowledge. 

We ate breakfast, and afterwards we played team games, which they like a lot. In a game, for example, the leader has to go around a chair and go and get each one on his team. In another game, they had to hold on to their shoulders and jump and go around the chair without letting go. 

In Math class, we are happy to see that the kids are understanding. This week, we taught the “highest common multiple.” 

In English class, each kid had to write a letter, which they practiced doing on their individual boards. 

In Bible class, we talked about the story in Luke 17:11-19 of the 10 lepers that asked Jesus to heal them. Jesus sent them to the priests to show them that they were healed. When they were going on their way, they looked at their skin, and the wounds had healed.  One leper, a samaritan, returned to Jesus and said “thank you.” Jesus told him: wasn’t it ten who were healed? Where are the other nine?  Only one remembered to say thank you. In the application of the lesson, we talked about how we have to be thankful to Jesus for all that He has done for us and not forget the importance of gratitude to God.

Oramos siempre agradeciendo a Dios por todo lo que El pone en la mesa para los niños y como los niños crecen en conocimiento y en el Señor.  

Desayunamos y luego jugamos juegos de equipo, los cual les gustan mucho. En un juego, por ejemplo, el líder tenía que dar la vuelta a una silla y venir para cada uno de su equipo. En otro juego, tenían que agarrarse por los hombros y brincar y darle la vuelta a la silla sin soltarse. 

En la clase de matemáticas, nos alegra ver que los niños van entendiendo. Esta semana enseñamos “el máximo común múltiplo.”

En la clase de Inglés, cada niño tenían que escribir una carta, la cual practicamos en sus pizarras individuales. 

En la clase bíblica, hablamos de la historia  en Lucas 17:11-19 de los diez leprosos que le pidieron a Jesús que los sanaran. Jesús los mando’ a los sacerdotes para mostrarles que habían sido sanado. Cuando iban de camino, se miraron la piel y las llagas habían desaparecido. Uno, un samaritano, volvió donde Jesús y le dijo “gracias.” Jesús le dijo: “no son diez que fueron limpiados? Y los nueve donde están?” Solo uno se acordo’ de decir gracias. En la aplicación de la lección, hablamos de que nosotros tenemos que estar agradecidos con Jesús por todo lo que El ha hecho en nosotros y no olvidar la importancia del agradecimiento para Dios.

We prayed for the kids giving thanks to God for everything and because God blesses us with our sponsors. We ate breakfast, and afterwards, we played a little.

In Math class, the kids had to count and put the number in the box that they had counted. 

In English class, we practiced various words that we have been studying.

In Bible class, we talked about Luke 10:27 about “loving our neighbor as ourself.” We used a visual story that showed a little worm that was different and how others treated him poorly. Someone got lost in a forest, but the little worm went and rescued him because the worm left a trail when he passed by at night, and in the moonlight, the trail shined, and it was not hard for the lost one to find the trail that the worm left. 

We showed them a box that had a hole in it, and the kids had to look through the hole in the box, and they observed various paths that the little worm left and how the paths shined. 

They applied the lesson upon doing an arts and crafts activity of the little worm and how they could identify with how the worm felt, and remember that no one should treat anyone bad due to their creed, color or size because even in their worst moment, the person can shine and rescue someone else.

Oramos por los niños dando gracias a Dios por todo y porque Dios nos bendice con nuestros padrinos.  Desayunamos y luego, jugamos un ratito. 

En la clase de Matemáticas, tenían que contar y poner el número en la caja según lo que contaron.

En la clase de Inglés, practicamos varias palabras que hemos estado estudiando. 

En la clase de Biblia, hablamos de Lucas 10:27 sobre “amar a su prójimo como a ti mismo.” Usamos una historia visual que mostraba un gusanito que era diferente y  como otros lo despreciaban. 

Alguien se perdió en un bosque pero el gusanito fue y rescató al perdido, porque  el gusanito dejó una senda cuando pasaba en la noche y con la luz de la luna, la senda brillaba y no le costó al perdido encontrar la senda que dejó el gusano. Les mostramos una caja con un hueco y los niños tenían que ver por un hueco en la caja y observaron a varias sendas que dejó el gusanito y como las sendas brillaban. 

Aplicaron la lección al hacer una manualidad del gusanito, en lo cual ellos podían identificar con como se sentía el gusano y que recordaran que no se debe despreciar a nadie ya sea por su credo, color o tamaño porque aun en su peor momento la persona puede brillar y rescatar a otro.
