We welcomed the kids with a greeting that had a special type of greeting that they would give us, which consisted of touching some drawings on the wall, which were: some hands, a heart, and some musical notes. If the kids touched the drawing of hands, then they would hit our hands in the air; if they touched the drawing of the heart, they would hug us, and if they touched the drawing of the musical notes, they would sing. They liked it a lot.
We prayed for our sponsors, and for the breakfast of “gallo pinto.” The girls jumped around with jump ropes, and the boys played ball.
We had a time in which the kids reflected about this new school year.
Damaris asked them some questions about what they wanted to be in life and how they could change what they were doing to be able to reach their dreams.
Afterwards, we asked questions in Spanish, and they had to answer in English. In the Bible lesson, the little ones talked about the theme: “a friendship covenant,” that is based on the characters of David and Jonathan that are found in 1 Samuel 20:1-15. David went to where Jonathan was and told him they he did not understand what he had done so that Saul would pursue him. Jonathan took care of David and told David his father’s, Saul’s, plans so they David would be careful.
We explained to the kids that they had a very beautiful friendship and that we also had to be loyal friends and take care of our friends.
Also, we talked about how Jesus is the best friend. In the Bible lesson for adolescents, they spoke of the theme: “Jesus: the most excellent friend.”
Afterwards, we talked about qualities that show that Jesus is the most excellent friend. 1) He is faithful (He does not abandon). He does not lie. He fulfills His word and always remains at your side. Sometimes a friend can disappoint us and is not there in the most difficult moments, but Jesus always remains faithful (1 Timothy 2:13); 2) He always listens to you. Jesus is compassionate and loving. He is willing to listen to you and help you (Jeremiah 33:3);
3) He worries about you. He worries about how you are, what your actions and decisions are, and wants to help you and make you grow to make you stronger (Psalm 32:6-8); 4) He gave everything for you. What a great love is the love of Jesus! A real friend lays his life down for his friend (John 15:13) like Jesus laid down His life for us.

Les dimos la bienvenida a los chicos con un modo de saludo especial que ellos darían a nosotros, el cual consistió en tocar unos dibujos en la pared, que eran: unas manitas, un corazon o unas notas de música. Si los niños tocaran el dibujo de las manitas, pegarían las manitas en el aire con las nuestras; si tocaran el dibujo del corazón, nos darían un abrazo y si tocaran el dibujo de las notas de música, cantarían. Les gusto’ mucho. Oramos por nuestros padrinos y por el desayuno de “gallo pinto.”
Las chicas brincaron con cuerdas y los chicos jugaron bola.
Después tuvimos un tiempo en el cual los niños reflexionaron sobre este año escolar nuevo. Damaris les hizo unas preguntas de que querían ser en la vida y como podían cambiar lo que están haciendo para poder alcanzar sus sueños.
Después, hicimos preguntas en español y ellos tenían que contestarlas en inglés.
En la lección bíblica, los pequeños hablaron del tema: “un pacto de amistad,” que se base en los personajes de David y Jonathan que se encuentran en 1 Samuel 20:1-15. David fue donde estaba Jonathan y le dijo que no entendió lo que él había hecho para que Saul lo anduviera persiguiendo. Jonathan cuidaba a David y le dijo a David los planes de su papá, Saúl, para que David tuviera cuidado.
Explicamos a los niños que ellos tenían una amistad muy linda y que nosotros también tenemos que ser amigos leales y cuidar nuestros amigos.
También, hablamos de que sólo Jesús es el mejor amigo. En la lección bíblica de los adolescentes, hablaron del tema: “Jesús: El amigo por excelencia.”
Después, hablamos de cualidades que demuestran que Jesucristo es el amigo por excelencia: 1) Es leal (No te abandona). Él no miente. Su palabra cumplirá y siempre a tu lado permanecerá. A veces un amigo nos puede decepcionar y no está en lo momentos más difíciles, pero Jesús siempre permanece fiel (2 Timoteo 2:13); 2) Siempre te escucha. Jesús es compasivo y amoroso. El está dispuesto a escucharte y ayudarte (Jeremías 33:3);
3) Se preocupa por ti. Él se preocupa por cómo estás, cuáles son tus acciones y tus decisiones y quiere ayudarte y hacerte crecer para hacerte más fuerte (Salmo 32:6-8);
4) Lo dio’ todo por ti. Qué mayor amor que el de Jesus? Un amigo verdadero pone su vida por su amigo (Juan 15:13).
