Jueves, 06 Febrero 2020

We welcomed the kids for the first day of Alturitas 2020, and we prayed for this school year.
We talked to the kids about the importance of washing their hands always, especially due to all that is happening in various places around the world.
We ate “gallo pinto,” and the kids liked it a lot. Later, we talked about the condition of our hearts because “friendship day” is February 14.
We talked symbolically about hearts of different colors.  If our hearts are full of sin, our hearts would be like the color black. If we have been washed by the blood of Christ, our hearts would be like the color red. If our sins have been taken away, our hearts would be like the color white. If we are growing in Christ, our hearts would be like the color green, and if we are being obedient, our hearts would be golden because heaven can be represented by the streets of gold.
Also, in the Bible lesson, we started to use the little Bibles that we have. We talked about Genesis and that we all were created by God and He loves us.
In the arts and crafts activity, we made flowers, and we put our names on the flowers because God made us like flowers to grow and flourish in Him.
Afterwards, the kids played a math game. They had to calculate the measurement of an object with a rope. They laughed a lot while they learned. We did several games that they always like. In English class,
we taught them a new song. They practiced several greetings and had to respond to questions.
Afterwards, Director Amy and her staff had a meeting with the kids’ mothers. First, we ate chicken and rice with the kids and their mothers, and then the mothers filled out important documents for their kids’ participation in the program.
Afterwards, Amy explained to the mothers Alturitas’ rules and what we expect of the kids.  Afterwards, we handed out the uniforms and school supplies to the mothers, and they and the kids were very thankful for all of the provisions that God gave through our Alturitas sponsors.
